Navigating Change: Knowing When It's Time to Take a Leap of Faith

As an entrepreneur for most of my adult life, I've experienced many seasons of professional growth and transformation. I started my first business at just 24 years old, with two little ones at home. That leap of faith involved leaving the security of my healthcare job to follow my passion for serving others in the wellness field. Those early years were tough—barely getting by—but they taught me resilience and transformed me into a true businesswoman.

Years later, when I finally found my footing, a new product line and business opportunity unexpectedly landed in my lap. Once again, I took a leap of faith. This decision led to the creation of a successful online wellness business that thrived for over a decade as I taught others to build their own paths to success. Here I learned how to lead and built a business that sold millions of dollars of health products.

But not everything lasts forever. After 12 years, I began to feel stifled. I stated to lack a clear vision for my future and found myself wrestling with a critical question: Was I quitting, or was it simply time for a change?

Making significant life changes takes immense courage. As someone blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit, I've learned to recognize when growth requires change. At the same time, I've wrestled with the delicate balance between moving on and questioning if I’m giving up too soon.

Fear is often the loudest voice when facing professional crossroads. It holds us in place, keeps us stuck, and can even push us to quit prematurely. Fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or even fear of success can be paralyzing.

To combat this, I’ve learned to take my time with big decisions. Fear doesn’t disappear overnight, but I know that I rarely make good choices when I’m feeling emotional. Instead, I strive for peace. When I feel moments of clarity and calmness about a decision, I know I’m on the right path.

I’ve also embraced the belief that there are no bad decisions—only decisions and outcomes. Even if things don’t go as planned, those challenges often lead to the most professional growth. The hard stuff is really what molds us into stronger, more capable business owners.

If you're grappling with big decisions, here are four simple yet powerful questions to guide you:

1. What is your vision?
   Ask yourself: What do I want my future to look like? Is my current path taking me there?
   • If the answer is no, take note of what’s missing.
   • If it’s maybe, journal about what would need to change to align your current efforts with your vision.
   • If it’s yes, it might not be about making a big change but rather focusing on personal and professional growth to achieve your goals.
2. Does it align with your values?
   Misalignment between your work and your core beliefs is a clear signal that it’s time for a change.
3. Are you happy?
   For me, this was a big one. I stayed unhappy for over a year before I made the decision to leave a business I spent 12 years building. When negativity about your work builds, it often clouds everything else, making it harder to see a way forward. Asking yourself this question should help give you confidence about your decision. 
4. Are you ready for the work change requires?
   Change offers a fresh start but often requires starting at the ground level again. While you bring all your past skills with you, it takes focus, effort, and resilience to rebuild and reach new heights. You will want to ask yourself if you are truly ready to do the work it takes to get something up and going.

Navigating change is never easy, but it’s often necessary for growth. Whether you’re facing fear, uncertainty, or self-doubt, remember this: You may not be quitting—you may simply be evolving. Trust yourself, seek clarity, and step forward with confidence in your ability to figure it out.

Life’s most meaningful growth often comes from taking leaps of faith. When the time is right, you’ll know. Listen to that inner voice, honor your vision, and embrace the work ahead. Growth isn’t always easy, but I promise, it’s always worth it.
